I highly recommend it.

Re: Peak District – Monsal Trail & The DJI Phantom 4

Agreed, I haven't seen them myself but I have seen the actual images people have posted.

Re: Peak District – Monsal Trail & The DJI Phantom 4

Good for you.

Unfortunately there are a few folk out there not so keen to keep the equilibrium. Winnats Pass is now a favourite location for flying drones and a place I avoid now which is a shame, I appreciate the appeal of the Drones especially when they are used correctly and with other "countryside enjoyers" in mind.

On a side note, I did the Ravens Tor wild camp this year, really enjoyed it, good shout! (its a tad steep though!)

Re: Peak District – Monsal Trail & The DJI Phantom 4

I only ever take the drone out during the week when it's not busy, I'm very conscious of not getting in the way or ruining the experience for others :-)

Re: Peak District – Monsal Trail & The DJI Phantom 4

You can't beat a good walk through the peaceful, glorious Peak District, Not so keen on having a drone flying overhead though but that's just me.

Re: Front Page

Hi there, this is a wonderful site but how do you square your trips with the fact that it is prohibited to wild camp in the Peak District unless you have permission from a land owner? Check out the "Sawyer Mini" water filter, I've got one and it's perfect :-)

Re: Peak District – Kinder Scout – Jacob’s Ladder & The Official Summit

Hi Dean, Just back from the Peak District and fresh off Kinder. We were a little less equipped for this, thinking we could pick up a footpath from the OS map but we had no idea it was so remote up there and there was no sign of a footpath through the plateau. We made our way as best we could due South to pick up the edge of the plateau. It was beautiful but our slight panic sadly cut the walk short. I stumbled across your site and I just wanted to say what a fantastic selection of walks you have - a great resource for when we return next year. Thank you. We were lucky to get the place to ourselves the following morning when we walked back to Ilam, it's very rare to see Dovedale empty :-)

Re: Peak District – Wild Camping – Dovedale Tarp & Bivvy

Nice one, Dean. I'm planning to walk from Ashbourne to Jedburgh in June, and I was looking around to see if camping was feasible in Dovedale, bearing in mind the crowds who are there in daytime. I should have known you'd been there, done it! Years ago, I used to sleep under the stars with some mates on the hills above Llangattock. No level ground, so we slept feet pointing downhill and were always interested to see who's slid furthest downhill in the night.

Re: Cromford Canal – Cromford to Langley Mill – History Walks

Hi Dean, just found you walk of the Cromford canal today and found it very interesting, I'll plan to do it myself someday but probably longer than 6 hours! At the Langley Mill end the canal takes a right turn and passes over the river Erewash and takes a route slightly different to the one you were on, you can still see some of the stonework on the path and the remnants of Limekiln lock, it then went under a bridge at the bottom of Stoney Lane (no longer there) and headed off for the basin at Langley Mill. You've probably had this info already but just thought I'd pass it on as you did ask in the video!

Re: Peak District – Kinder Scout – Jacob’s Ladder & The Official Summit

thank you - this is a great post and your photographs have inspired me to get back up on kinder after some years away. even enjoyed ewan maccoll's manchester rambler, which i didn't know. never used viewranger before - going to try it. thanks lots.

Re: Peak District – Winter Camp at Crookstone Knoll on Kinder Scout

Great videos Sir! Im back at hiking and wild camping after many years, your blog and videos are a great inspiration. I followed part of your Edale skyline route a few days ago, I went solo starting at Edale, upper Tor passing over Crookstone, through Hope Cross then a Wild Camp in Wooller Knoll (although finding a flat camping spot was a nightmare) I then headed down to Hope then up loose hill with a plan to continue to Mam Tor but the weather beat me to it. Had a fantastic time although the snow was shocking lol, thanks again, and keep up the fantastic blog - Jon

Re: Peak District – Monsal, Cressbrook, Tideswell & Miller’s Dale

I did this walk last week, I really enjoyed walking through Miller's Dale which was quite eerie with fallen trees and moss covered rocks in a deep valley.

As an aside we stayed in Tideswell at the Horse and Jockey.
